On February 25, 2015, the Court of Appeal delivered its judgement in favour of the Commission, in the appeal of the High Court’s decision in the Barbados National Oil Company (BNOCL) vs. FTC.

This case was instituted in 2006 by BNOCL as a result of the Commission’s preliminary findings which indicated that BNOCL had abused its position as the dominant supplier of oil to the Barbados Light and Power Company Limited. The judgment of the Court of Appeal gave its interpretation on various provisions in the Fair Trading Commission Act and the Fair Competition Act.
