AND IN THE MATTER of the Utilities Regulation Act, CAP. 282 of the Laws of Barbados.
 
AND IN THE MATTER of the Utilities Regulation (Procedural) Rules, 2003 and the Utilities Regulation (Procedural) (Amendment) Rules, 2009.
 
AND IN THE MATTER of an Application by The Barbados Light & Power Company Limited for Force Majeure Exemption for specified Standards of Service.
 
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that:
 
The Barbados Light & Power Company Limited (BLPC) by an Application dated the 21st day of August, 2024, applied for Force Majeure exemption for specified Standards of Service under the Commission’s Decision on Standards of Service 2023-2025 No. FTCUR/DECSOS/BLPC/2022-12 in light of the effects of Hurricane Beryl on its operations. The BLPC has applied for exemption from the following Guaranteed (GES) and Overall (OES) Standards:
i.   GES1: Fault Repair – Customer’s Service
ii.   GES2: Fault Repair – Distribution System
iii.   GES3: Voltage Complaints
iv.   GES6: Connect or Transfer of Service
v.   OES5: Call Centre Answering
The determination of this Application may result in an alteration of the Commission’s Standards of Service Decision 2023-2025.
 
The Application and the Commission’s Decision on the Standards of Service 2023-2025 are available on the Commission’s website www.ftc.gov.bb or at its office at “Good Hope”, Green Hill, St. Michael between the hours of 9:00am and 4:00pm, Monday – Friday. In accordance with Rule 4 of the Utilities Regulation (Procedural) Rules, as amended, the Commission directs that persons wishing to comment on this Application submit written comments on or before Friday, January 31, 2025.
