The Fair Trading Commission is undertaking a study to determine whether or not consumers in Barbados have experienced "Negative Option" sales tactics, when businesses offer goods or services. A Negative Option is a clause in a Sales Contract which provides that goods/services will be sent periodically to a subscriber unless, he /she notifies the business in writing that the goods or services are not wanted. Therefore, the consumer's silence is taken as acceptance of the clause.

To gain an understanding of the incidence of negative option marketing in Barbados, the Commission has compiled a questionnaire to obtain feedback from consumers. Please complete the attached questionnaire and note that all responses will be treated with the strictest confidence.
