PUBLIC NOTICE

FAIR TRADING COMMISSION CONSULTATION ON THE PROPOSED CABLE & WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS PLC/COLUMBUS INTERNATIONAL INC. MERGER

On Monday, November 24, 2014, the Fair Trading Commission (Commission) received an application from Cable & Wireless Communications Plc and Columbus International Inc. seeking permission to merge the two entities in Barbados. In this regard, and in accordance with Section 20 (7) of the Fair Competition Act, the Commission is currently assessing the proposed merger transaction.

The Commission therefore invites all service providers, businesses, representatives of consumer groups, non-governmental organisations, residential consumers and all other parties with an interest in this matter, to submit their comments on the merits or demerits of the proposed merger.

The Commission also takes this opportunity to encourage all parties to participate in its survey of the telecommunications industry. The identity of survey respondents shall remain confidential.
