PRESS RELEASE
FAIR TRADING COMMISSION LAUNCHES AUTOFUELS MARKET SURVEY

In fulfillment of its mandate to determine the level of competition within economic sectors in Barbados, the Fair Trading Commission has launched a survey on the local fuels market as part of a broader study of that sector. This study will gather data on the retail supply of fuels at gas stations and the supply and distribution of fuels in commercial applications.

The public is invited to share its views via a short survey, which will be used to gather information on the consumption patterns of motorists at gas stations and automarts, and their perception of the local auto fuels market. The survey may be accessed at www.surveymonkey.com/r/autofuels or on the Commission’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/BarbadosFairTradingCommission . The Commission will also interview the principals of the major fuel brands in Barbados, as well as gas station operators, commercial customers and companies involved in the commercial supply of liquid fuels.

The study does not constitute an investigation, it is a general evaluation of the identified market. The Commission’s focus, therefore, is to highlight any issues which may be affecting stakeholders and address these in accordance with the Fair Competition Act, CAP. 326C.
