The Fair Trading Commission is seeking to recruit an individual to fill the following position:-

Director of Fair Competition

The Director of Fair Competition will report to the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for directing the work of staff engaged in the monitoring and investigation of matters relating to the Fair Competition Act.

Responsibilities include:-

• Planning, organising and directing the activities of the Fair Competition Division;
• Monitoring and investigating the activities of business enterprises to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Fair Competition Act;
• Analysing applications for mergers and making recommendations to the Commission regarding the same;
• Directing the execution of market studies and preparation of reports regarding competition matters.

The successful candidate should:-

• hold a postgraduate qualification in Economics, Law or a related area, with at least seven years’ senior management experience;
• have a good understanding of fair competition, corporate and commercial law;
• have an in-depth understanding of the business environment and pertinent economic issues;
• have demonstrated ability to lead a team and a track record for high quality output.

International and/or regional experience in competition law and policy would be an asset.
