FTC Issues Penalty Framework for Electricity Sector

The Fair Trading Commission (“the Commission”) has formulated and issued a Penalty Framework for breaches of Standards of Service (SOS) for the Electricity Sector of Barbados. The framework outlines a model for the calculation of financial penalties to be imposed against regulated entities.

Further to the Commission’s function of determining SOS, and, monitoring performance to ensure compliance, the Commission is authorised to impose these financial penalties as a means to effectively enforce its functions under the legislation which it administers.

Regulated entities operating in the sector can therefore refer to this document when found to be in violation of the SOS as determined by the Commission.

The Electricity Sector Penalty Framework can be accessed here.
