PUBLIC NOTICE

PUBLIC CONSULTATION ON FEED-IN-TARIFFS FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY SYSTEMS SIZED ABOVE 1MW and up to 10MW

On September 30, 2020 the Fair Trading Commission (“the Commission”) issued its Feed-in- Tariff (FIT) Decision for renewable energy (RE) systems above 1MW and up 10 MW. This decision was further extended to December 31, 2022 due to the current economic climate and the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the RE sector. The FIT decision sought to spur economic activity and incentivise RE deployment at the utility scale, providing benefits to economies. The need for the economic growth in the RE Sector continues to be an urgent requirement for the island.

The Commission is seeking public input into the review of its FIT decision for systems sized above 1MW and up to 10MW for the supply of RE from various sources. This review allows the Commission to determine the continued relevance of the inputs to the existing pricing framework contained in that decision, in order to continue to spur that growth.

As part of this evaluation process and pursuant to section 4(4) of the Fair Trading Commission (Amendment) Act, 2020 CAP. 326B of the Laws of Barbados the Commission will consider written comments from interested parties on a number of matters which are outlined in the consultation document.

Comments should be submitted via mail or by email no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday August 5, 2022 to:
