The Fair Trading Commission is a tripartite body that is responsible for safeguarding the interests of consumers by enforcing the Utilities Regulation Act, Fair Competition Act and the Consumer Protection Act.  

The Legal Department is responsible for providing legal services to the organisation.  

Senior Legal Officer

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following core competencies:

• Knowledge of Utility Regulation, Fair Competition, Consumer Protection and Corporate and Commercial laws;
• Litigation experience; ▪ Knowledge of administrative law and tribunals;
• Ability to perform effective case evaluation and plan investigative strategy;
• Experience in administering laws relating to utility regulation, fair competition and consumer protection ;
• Knowledge of practices and procedures of regulatory agencies;
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills;
• In depth understanding of the business environment & pertinent economic issues;
• Supervisory experience.
